What is the difference between Real Mink lashes and Silk Lashes

2022-07-07

The tails of either the Siberian Mink or the Chinese Mink are used to make mink lashes (either extensions or false lashes). All mink lashes are soft and lightweight. Your hair will look light, fluffy, and soft with
Mink extensions. In addition to being hollow inside, real mink lashes are thin
and lightweight, which allows us to apply several extensions per natural lash
without them weighing it down.

As mink lashes lose their curl every time they get
wet, you must keep curling them at home to maintain that curled look. Permed or
curled mink lashes require heating to maintain their curl, so you will need to
keep curling them at home. As they
come from a live animal, they may also cause allergies in users. In addition,
the mink lashes had to be removed from the animal through inhumane practices.

Because of all of these reasons, we do
not offer natural mink lashes .

PROS

Last longer due to the lightness

May be considered 'chic' or a luxury (like fur coats)

Gives a very natural look

CONS

May cause allergic reactions

Promotes inhuman animal practices

Loses their curl after time

SILK lashes

The first thing to keep in mind is that, although some
brands market their silk lashes as being 100% silk lashes, they actually use
synthetic fibers, which means that the curl and shape will not last as long as
real silk lashes.

Silk eyelashes are becoming finer and more
natural-looking thanks to technological advancements. Since their selling
points are similar (light, soft, yet sturdy enough to hold the curl) the final
look can be quite similar (silk and mink).

PROS

Risk of allergic reactions is low (allergies are
usually caused by glue or eye patches). Depending on the thickness selected, it
can look natural or dramatic. Very good at holding their curl. Apply correctly
and it will last for a long time. Colors, matte or glossy finishes, etc., make
it very versatile.

CONS

Sheen varies from brand to brand

It is not uncommon for manufacturers to sell silk made
from unknown materials.

Would you prefer one over the other?

The fact that they are all synthetic
makes it impossible to know. You will look fantastic as long as the lashes are
high-quality, come from a reputable source, and are applied by a certified lash
artist. If you don't know which one is right for you, try both!
